Main Road gets busy early. Govindram Shobharam & Company is right there at Plot No-672. If you walk through Kapad Peth towards Ganapati Peth, you see us. The building has been here a while. We open the doors when the sun starts coming up over the rooftops. Most days it is just about getting things ready. We spend a lot of time just moving stuff around and making sure everything is where it should be. The street noise is constant. People walking by to the temple, scooters honking, the usual sounds of the market. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside so we spend time cleaning the counters. It’s a simple setup. We don’t have fancy lights or big signs. Just the name on the board. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint but they hold up fine. We see the same faces every day. It feels like we are just part of the brick and mortar of this street now. When it rains, the water collects a bit near the front step, so we have to watch out for that. We keep our heads down and do the work. It isn't a complicated life here on the Main Road. We just stay open until it gets dark and the shops around us start closing their shutters one by one. Then we lock up and go home. Tomorrow is the same. Ganapati Peth is always loud, but you get used to it.
