At Devang Spices, we are mostly focused on the smells and the grind. Our place is in Sector No. 24, Plot No. 79, over in the Pcnt area of Nigdi. If you walk down our street, you can usually tell we’re there before you see the sign because the air smells like chili or cumin. We spend most of the day processing different spices. It’s dusty work and everyone usually ends up sneezing at some point during the shift. The machines are old but they get the job done, even if they make a lot of noise that makes it hard to hear the phone ringing. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s mostly just sacks of raw spices waiting to be cleaned and ground up. We sell to some of the local shops and some people who just want fresh stuff for their own cooking. The floor is always stained a bit yellow from the turmeric, no matter how much we scrub it at night. We don't use fancy packaging with shiny plastic; usually, it’s just plain bags that we seal up ourselves. It’s a small operation with just a few of us doing everything from the heavy lifting to the final weighing. Nigdi is a busy place, but once you step into our plot, it’s all about the spices. We don’t try to be anything we aren't, just people working with spices in a practical way.
