Amber Masala

Amber Masala is our little spot over on Alandi Road. We are in the Vishrantwadi area, which is a pretty lively part of town. If you are looking for us, we are right near the Mental Hospital, which is a big landmark around here. Working with masala means you never quite get the smell out of your hair, but you get used to it after a week or two. The shop stays fairly busy because of where we are located. Alandi Road always has traffic, so there is a constant hum of engines in the background while we work. We focus on getting the blends right. It's mostly about the ratios and making sure the ingredients are okay. We don't have a marketing department or anything like that. It's just us behind the counter or in the back room. The space is a bit cramped when a big shipment comes in, and we have to shuffle boxes around to make a path. Vishrantwadi is a good place to be. You see all sorts of people walking by. We just try to keep the place clean and the products moving. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. Sometimes the weather makes the spices clump up, so we have to be careful about that. It’s just a normal day-to-day business for us. We've been here long enough that the local delivery guys know exactly where to drop the bags without us even asking anymore.
