Kailash Beach Resort

Down here in Poornan Kuppam Village, things stay pretty quiet compared to the main town area. We’re situated in the Ariyankuppam Commune, which is a bit of a drive out, but that’s just how the geography is around here. The resort has been part of the village landscape for a while. You can smell the salt in the air most days, and the humidity is something you just get used to after living here. We have a lot of trees and space around the buildings, which helps with the heat. It takes a lot of work to keep the sand out of the lobby and the rooms, but that’s what happens when you’re this close to the water. The staff mostly comes from the nearby areas, so there’s a lot of local talk in the hallways. We don't try to be anything we aren't; it’s just a place for people to stay when they want to be near the coast. The mornings are usually the best time when it's still a bit cool and you can hear the birds before the sun gets too high. We spend our days checking people in, making sure the rooms are straight, and dealing with whatever the weather throws at us. Sometimes the power goes out or the wind picks up, but we just handle it as it comes. It’s a slow life in the commune, and we like it that way.
