Hotel Golden Sun Inn

Our spot is on Mission Street, specifically at numbers 53 and 55, and if you know Pondicherry, you know this area is always moving. We are right near the ICICI Bank, which is a good landmark because people often get lost looking for the specific door. The street outside is lined with shops and there’s always the sound of scooters zooming past. We’ve been running this place for a while and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. The building itself is straightforward. We don’t have a lot of bells and whistles here. Some of the rooms get a bit of that street noise, but that’s just how it is when you’re centrally located. We spend our mornings checking on the water tanks and making sure the linens are handled. It’s a lot of manual work. The staff is local, and we mostly speak a mix of languages depending on who is standing at the desk at the time. Sometimes the rain in Pondicherry gets really heavy and we have to put out mats to keep the mud from coming in. We aren't trying to be a big resort or anything like that. We just provide a place to stay while you’re visiting the town or doing business at the bank nearby. It’s a simple operation and we like keeping it that way because it feels more honest to who we are as a family business.
