Hotel Monas

We’ve been here at No 397 on Mahatma Gandhi Road for a good while now. Pondicherry gets really busy, especially on this stretch of MG Road, but we just keep things running the best we can. It’s not a fancy setup, just a regular place to stay when you are in town for work or visiting. My family helps out with the rooms and the front desk most days. Sometimes the street noise gets a bit loud, but that is just how it is living in the middle of the city. We see all kinds of people, from travelers with big bags to folks just here for a night. The building is older, so we spend a lot of time fixing small things like leaky taps or lights that won't behave. It is a lot of daily work. Most mornings start early with coffee and checking who is moving out. We try to keep the floors clean, though the dust from the road is a constant battle for us. If you are walking down from the main junction, you will see our sign. It is nothing special, just a hotel for regular people. We don't have those big lobbies you see in magazines, but there is a chair if you need to sit for a minute. The rooms have the basics, mostly just beds and fans. We are right here in the middle of everything, so food and shops are just a short walk away. That is about it really.
