The Orient

You can find us over at City Center 2 in New Town, Rajarhat. We are on the ground floor of Block B, right in the middle of all the shopping and the noise. Kolkata is a big, busy city, and this part of town has grown so much lately. We remember when there was not much out here at all, and now it is all huge malls and wide roads. The Orient is basically just our shop where we do our thing every single day. It gets really crowded on the weekends when families come out to the mall, and sometimes it is hard to hear yourself think over the music and the crowds. We do not have any polished speeches about what we do here. It is just work. We open up in the morning, clean up the place, and wait for people to drop in. Being in Block B means we see a lot of folks just wandering around after they watch a movie or finish their groceries. The traffic on the main road outside can be a nightmare during the evening, but that is just Kolkata for you. We keep things pretty simple. No big posters or corporate slogans on the walls. Just a regular place in a big mall. Sometimes the air conditioning in the mall is way too cold, and other times it is steaming hot outside, but we just get on with things. We have had the same staff for a bit, and we are just trying to keep the place running.
