Bangur Veg Dhaba

Bangur Veg Dhaba is situated at 55, Block D in Kolkata. We are tucked in near the Bangur Super Marketnear area, so there is always a lot of movement around us. The 700055 area is pretty packed with people going about their business. Our place is not big and it definitely is not fancy. It is a dhaba, so it has that simple feel where things are just functional. We have benches and tables that have been used by many people over the years. The floor is just plain stone and we mop it every morning before the first person walks in. Being near the market means we get a lot of shoppers and workers stopping in when they are tired. It can get a bit hot in the afternoons but we have fans running to keep the air moving. You can hear the sounds of the market from the front door. We keep the salt and pepper shakers on the tables and refill them when they get low. The kitchen stays busy and there is usually a clatter of plates. We don't have any big posters or bright lights. It is just a place to sit and eat something. Most of our neighbors know us by now. We have been in Block D for a long time and we don't plan on going anywhere. It is a humble spot for anyone who happens to be nearby. We usually have the radio playing softly in the corner, though sometimes it cuts out.
