Our place is at 245/B on M B Road in Birati, Kolkata. We are very close to the mini bus stand, which means there is always a crowd nearby. People are constantly rushing to catch their buses or getting off after a long commute. The noise of the buses and the horns is just something we have lived with every day. Birati is a busy area, and being on M B Road puts us right in the middle of it. We started this because we wanted a spot in our own neighborhood. The shop is simple, with just the essentials. We spend the morning getting things ready before the first big wave of commuters arrives. It gets quite humid here, especially in the monsoon, but the shutters stay up anyway. We see the same faces every morning, people who have been living in Birati for years. It’s a small community even though it’s so busy. We don’t have fancy menus or decorations. It’s just a counter and some space to stand or sit. The staff talks to the regulars about the local news or the bus timings. It’s not a quiet life, but it’s ours. We just try to provide what people need while they are on their way somewhere else. If you are near the Birati mini bus stand, you’ll probably see us right there on the main road.
