New Mezban Biryani Palace

In Krishnapur, right on the Main Road in Kolkata, you will find our biryani place. We are located in the Prafulla Kanan area. Kolkata is famous for food and we just try to do our part here. Making biryani takes a lot of time and we start early in the morning with the big pots. The smell of the spices fills the whole place before we even open the shutters. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the rice and meat in the kitchen. Our shop is on a very busy road so there is always dust and noise from the traffic. We just keep the doors open and the fans running as fast as they go. It gets really hot in the kitchen, especially during the summer months in Bengal. We don't have any fancy seating, just enough for people to sit and eat their meal comfortably. Most people in Krishnapur know where we are. We don't use any big advertisements. People come because they are hungry and they want biryani. Sometimes we run out of certain items early and we have to tell people we're sorry. That’s just how it goes when you make everything in-house every day. We aren't a big chain, just a local spot on the Main Road. We focus on the cooking and let the rest of the things take care of themselves. It’s a tough business but we enjoy being part of the Kolkata food scene in our own small way.
