Lokenath Restaurant

Lokenath Restaurant sits right on VIP Road in Raghunathpur. If you know this part of Kolkata, you know how loud the traffic can get. We are here from the early hours of the morning getting things ready in the kitchen. There is a lot of chopping and cleaning that happens before the first person even walks through the door. The kitchen is small and it gets very hot once the stoves are all lit up. We serve a lot of people who are just passing through on their way to other parts of the city. We don't have any fancy menus or decorations. It is just tables and chairs and the smell of whatever we are cooking that day. We spend a lot of time washing dishes and mopping the floor because it gets dirty fast with so many people coming in. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to manage with what we have. Our staff is small, and we all do a bit of everything, from taking orders to clearing the plates. By the time we close up at night, we are pretty tired and ready to head home. The next day it all starts over again with the same routine. We don't try to be anything special, just a place where you can get a meal and sit down for a few minutes away from the noise of VIP Road. It is hard work but we are used to it.
