LAZEEZ

Our shop is called LAZEEZ and you can find us at Shop no 129 on Jessore Road. We are right near the Shyam Nagar Auto Stand, so there is always the sound of horns and people shouting for rides. It’s a very loud and active part of Kolkata. We open up in the morning and the first thing we do is wash down the front area because the dust from Jessore Road gets everywhere. The 700055 area is always crowded, which is good for business but it means we never really get a break. We have a few tables inside but many people just stand outside or take their food to go. It’s a small kitchen and we are always bumping into each other when it gets busy. We don't have any fancy uniforms or a corporate manager. It’s just us working through the orders as they come in. Sometimes the auto drivers stop by for a quick bite between their shifts. We’ve gotten used to the chaos of the auto stand over the years. It’s just part of our daily life now. We spend a lot of time checking the stock and making sure the gas cylinders are full. There is no air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that we keep running all day. It’s a basic setup but it works for us and the people who live around here. We just keep our heads down and keep the stoves going.
