Jajigram Gp Farmers Producer Company Limited

We are a farmers' group from Jajigram GP, located in the Birbhum district. Our main point of contact is Soleman Nabi, the son of Abul Kalam. We operate right out of his place in the village. This isn't a big city operation with a glass building. It’s a local setup meant for local people. In Jajigram, everyone knows that farming is a tough way to make a living. We formed this company because we wanted to have some collective strength. Most days, someone is stopping by the office to talk about the latest crop prices or to ask about getting better seeds. We don’t have a marketing department; we just talk to each other and the people we sell to. It’s a very direct way of doing business. The Birbhum climate can be hard on the crops, so we spend a lot of time discussing how to handle the dry spells or the heavy rains. The office is just a room where we keep our files and sit together to figure things out. We don’t use any corporate jargon because it doesn't help us grow better vegetables or grain. We are just a group of people who live and work in the same village, trying to make the producer company work for everyone in the Jajigram area. It’s about as local and straightforward as it gets, and we are fine with that. It works for us.
