You’ll find us at 296, Old Post Office Lane. It’s right in the middle of Mangal Das Market in Kalbadevi. If you know the area, you know how crowded it gets. Whexports Pvt. Ltd. is in a small office here, surrounded by hundreds of other traders. Every morning is a scramble to get the shutters up and start sorting through the latest messages. We do a lot of exporting, so we are always talking to people about containers and shipping dates. The lane is so narrow you can barely walk through when people are unloading goods. It’s loud, it’s chaotic, but that’s just Kalbadevi. We have tea brought in a few times a day from the stall downstairs. Most of our work is on the phone or on the old computer we’ve had for years. There’s paper everywhere—invoices, packing lists, and customs forms. We don't have much space, so everything has to be organized in its own way, even if it looks messy to an outsider. Sometimes the heat in the market is quite a lot, but we have a small fan that keeps us going. We’ve been here a long time, so we know all the other shopkeepers. We help each other out when someone needs a hand with a heavy load. It’s not a corporate job. It’s about being part of the market and getting the work done day after day.
