Masjid Bunder is always a chaotic place to be. We are located in Mody Chambers on Narshi Natha Street. It’s an old building, and we are way up on the 4th floor in Room 15. The elevator can be temperamental, so many days we just end up taking the stairs. It’s a good workout, even if we’re sweating by the time we reach the top. Down on the street, there are trucks and carts everywhere, and the noise never really stops. We deal with exports, so there’s always a lot of paperwork and phone calls to customs agents. The office itself is pretty simple. We have old metal desks and fans that have seen better days. When it rains, the street outside sometimes floods, making it a bit of a challenge to get into work. We’ve been in this same spot for a long time. The chai wallah downstairs knows our faces and exactly how we like our tea. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know the ropes. Most of our day is spent checking shipping dates and making sure the boxes are ready to go. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we know. We like the neighborhood, even with all the noise and the crowds. It feels like the real heart of the city’s trade. We just keep things moving. There's a certain rhythm to the work here that you don't find elsewhere.
