Sachi Exports (India)

We are based in Gala No 25 at the Hindustan Kohinoor Industrial Complex. It’s right near the Vikhroli Telephone Exchange on L.B.S. Marg, which is one of the busiest roads in Mumbai. Working in an industrial complex means you get used to the constant sound of machinery and the smell of exhaust from the trucks. Our unit, or the "gala" as we call it, is where everything happens. We handle exports, so there are always stacks of boxes and rolls of packing tape lying around. It gets quite hot in Vikhroli, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the metal roofs of the units. We have a small mezzanine floor where we keep the office stuff and the computers, while the ground floor is for all the heavy lifting. The traffic on L.B.S. Marg is something we have to plan our whole day around; if a shipment is late, it’s usually because of a jam near the station. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If you come to see us, you’ll probably find us mid-task, maybe checking a label or talking to a driver. It’s a gritty, hands-on environment, but it’s where we feel at home. We’ve been in this complex for a long time and know the other unit owners well. We just keep our heads down and make sure the orders are moving out the door.
