Rose Leather Bags

Rose Leather Bags is located right near Dharavi Road, on the way to Vasna Road. If you know Dharavi, you know it’s a place where people are always working hard. Our workshop is at number 1, and it’s usually filled with the smell of raw leather and glue. It’s a strong smell, but we don’t even notice it anymore. We have these big heavy tables where we lay out the hides to see where the marks are. Leather is a tricky material because every piece is different, and you have to be careful not to waste any. We aren't trying to be some high-end fashion house. We just make bags that are meant to last. Some of the guys have been stitching for twenty years, and their hands are tough from the work. The lighting isn't the best in the back, so we move the tables closer to the door when the sun is out. It gets pretty hot in the summer, and we have to take a lot of water breaks. We keep the finished bags in stacks along the wall. People come in and out all day, asking about prices or just looking at what’s new. It’s a bit messy, with scraps of leather all over the floor, but that’s just how it is when you’re actually making things. We stay open late most nights to finish up whatever we started in the morning.
