If you look for us at 14 Phase Vi in the Masjid area, you'll see a very small storefront. Ramdev Times isn't a big showroom with dozens of employees. It’s just a narrow space where we keep a variety of watches and clocks. Different types of timepieces cover the walls, and you can hear a lot of ticking if it ever gets quiet enough, though that rarely happens. Masjid is a very crowded part of the city, so there’s always noise from the railway station and the markets nearby. Much of the day is spent sitting at the small workbench near the window. Tiny tools and parts are scattered around because we spend time fixing things too. The counter is old and the wood is worn down from years of use and hands resting on it. We don't have air conditioning, so the door stays open to get some breeze from the street. Simple tile makes up the floor, and we sweep it out every morning before starting work. Most people who stop by are locals or commuters from the station who need a battery replaced or a new strap for their watch. Not much room exists for people to stand inside, so customers usually wait near the entrance while we work. It’s a humble setup, but it’s been this way for a long time. We just keep the clocks running and wait for the day to pass as the trains go by.
