Kiran Watch Company

Kiran Watch Company is situated in one of those BMC stalls over in Lower Parel, right across from the old Mafatlal Industries market. It’s a small space, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need into it. Working at the cross road means we see a lot of people rushing to and from the station all day long. The area has changed so much with all the new buildings going up, but our little stall feels like it’s from a different time. We spend the day hunched over a small table, usually working on some old watch or clock that needs a bit of attention. It’s quiet work, even though the street outside is anything but quiet. There is a lot of honking and shouting from the vendors nearby, but you sort of stop hearing it after a while. We keep a small radio on the shelf for some background noise, mostly just news or music. Sometimes the stall gets a bit hot in the afternoon when the sun hits the front, so we pull the shade down halfway. We’ve been at this spot for quite a while now, and the neighbors all know us by name. It’s a decent way to earn a living, just keeping things ticking and chatting with the people who pass by. The space is tight, but it’s ours, and it serves its purpose well enough without needing to be anything more than what it is.
