Rakesh Textiles

Rakesh Textiles is located at Shop No 1 in the Sainath Municipal Market. We are in Malad West, over by Versova, and we’re right near the pani puri wala. That’s usually the best way to find us. The market is a lively place, full of smells and sounds and people haggling. Our shop is right at the front, so we see everything that goes on. We sell all kinds of fabrics and textiles. It’s not a fancy boutique with air conditioning and soft music. It’s a market stall with stacks of cloth reaching up to the ceiling. We spend a lot of time unfolding and folding fabric for people to see. Our hands are usually a bit rough from handling the material all day. We don’t have a corporate office or a marketing plan. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the first customer. The market can be chaotic, especially during the festive seasons, but we like the energy. We talk to everyone who walks by. Some people have been buying from us since we first opened. We don’t use complicated sales pitches. We just show the cloth, tell them the price, and let them decide. It’s honest work. When it rains, we have to move everything back so it stays dry. It’s just part of the daily routine here in Malad. We are here every day except for the occasional holiday.
