Parekh Watch Company

Parekh Watch Company is tucked away in Shop No 13 at the Laxmi Shopping Center. We are very close to the Ghatkopar Station on the West side, so there is always a crowd nearby. Being in a shopping center means we have neighbors selling all sorts of things, from clothes to electronics. Our shop is small and looks a bit lived-in. We have shelves stacked with old watch boxes and spare straps that have been there for years. People often stop in on their way home from the station because they noticed their watch stopped during the day. We do the usual things like cleaning out the dirt from under the bezel or fixing a clasp that won't stay shut. The lighting in the shopping center isn't always the best, so we have our own lamps at the workbench. It’s a bit noisy with the shoppers and the announcements from the station, but we don't mind it. It feels like we are in the middle of everything. We’ve had the same sign above the door for a long time, and it’s started to yellow a bit. We don't see any reason to change it though. The locals know we are here and that’s what matters. We just keep the shop open, drink our chai, and wait for the next customer to walk through the door. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in Ghatkopar. We just fix watches.
