Our little shop is located at Shop No 7 in the Bhiwandiwala Building, which is right near the Sardar Hotel at Sun Corner in Chinchpokli. It is a neighborhood that stays busy from early morning until late at night. We have been in this spot for years, and most of our customers are locals who live nearby or work in the area. The shop itself is quite cramped because we have boxes of spare parts and old clocks taking up most of the shelf space. It might look a bit disorganized to someone walking in for the first time, but I know exactly where every screw and spring is kept. We do a lot of battery replacements and fixing broken glass, but the mechanical watches are what really take up our time. My hands are usually a bit stained with oil from the movements, and that is just how it goes in this line of work. We don't have any fancy marketing or a big sign, people usually just find us by word of mouth or by walking past the Sardar Hotel. The fans in here aren't the best, so it gets a bit warm in the summer months, but we stay busy enough that we don't notice it too much. It is honest work and it keeps us connected to the people around Chinchpokli.
