New Life Watch Co is at 165 Hill Road in Bandra West, right near the police station. If you know Bandra, you know Hill Road is always packed with people and cars. It’s loud, it’s chaotic, and there’s always something happening right outside our door. We’re situated in a spot that’s seen decades of changes. The shop itself is small and packed with all sorts of timepieces. We don’t have much room for fancy decorations. We just have our workbenches and the tools we’ve used for years. Being near the police station means there’s always a lot of activity nearby. We spend our time taking apart watches that have stopped ticking and trying to get them going again. It’s funny how people still care so much about their old watches even with everyone having phones now. We get a mix of everyone here—college kids, old residents of Bandra, and people just passing through the market. We don’t use any corporate talk or try to sell people things they don't need. Usually, we're just telling someone that their watch needs a good cleaning or a new battery. The humidity from the sea nearby sometimes makes the metal parts tricky to work with, but we’re used to it. It’s just a regular shop on a very busy street, doing what we’ve always done at 165 Hill Road. We stay open until the evening rush starts to fade out and then we head home ourselves.
