If you’ve ever walked around Shanipar Chowk or down Bajirao Road, you’ve probably seen the sign for Nana Missalpav. We are tucked into the Gurukurpa Society on D N Road. It’s a family thing, really. My uncle started it, and now we all just pitch in to keep it going. The recipe for the missal hasn’t changed in a long time, mostly because our regulars would complain if we messed with it. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen early in the morning chopping onions and getting the spice mix right. It gets really hot in there, especially during the summer months. The shop isn't very big, so on weekends, people end up standing outside on the pavement while they eat. It’s a bit messy, but that’s part of the experience of eating here. We don’t use any fancy machinery; everything is done by hand. Sometimes we run out of pav early if the delivery truck is late, and we just have to tell people to wait. We aren’t trying to be the biggest place in town, just a reliable one. The floor is old stone and the tables are heavy wood that’s seen better days. We don't have a website or anything like that. If people want to find us, they just ask around the Chowk. It’s just a local spot for a quick, spicy meal. We’re here every day except for some holidays when we take a break.
