Metro Watch Centre is located at 57 Shantokh Chawl. It is in the Mankhurd area of Borivali East. It is a small place, just enough room for the counter and the repair desk. I’ve lived around Borivali East my whole life, so setting up here made sense. Most of our neighbors are people I see every morning when I am walking to open up. The chawl can get quite crowded during the rains, but the shop stays dry. I have a lot of tools for opening up watch backs and cleaning the gears. It’s tedious work, but it keeps me busy. Sometimes people bring in old clocks too, though watches are what we mostly handle. My father taught me some of this, and the rest I just learned by doing it over and over. You see a lot of different people coming through Mankhurd. Some are in a big hurry, others want to chat while I change a pin or adjust a metal band. I try to keep things organized, but there are always little parts everywhere. The shop is simple, with just a couple of chairs for people to sit while they wait. I don't use any fancy machines, just my hands and a few loupes. It’s a decent way to spend the day, and it's good to be part of the local community here in the chawl.
