Manu Overseas

Our office is at 305 Abhay, right on Baroda Street in the Carnac Bunder area. If you know this part of the city, you know it’s all about the docks and moving goods. There is always a truck blocking the lane or someone shouting about a delivery. Manu Overseas has been operating from this spot for quite some time. We deal with overseas stuff, which mostly means a lot of phone calls and even more paperwork. The building is old but it has character, and the sea breeze sometimes makes its way through the windows, though usually it’s just the smell of diesel and old crates. We spend our days tracking shipments and talking to vendors. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the fans going full blast. There’s a lot of walking back and forth to the custom house or other offices nearby. We don’t really do anything flashy. It’s mostly just making sure the boxes get where they need to go. My desk is a mess of files and pens that don't work, but I know where everything is. The tea guy comes by at four, and that’s usually the highlight of the afternoon. We often grab a quick snack from the cart around the corner when the work piles up. It’s a grit-and-grind kind of life here near the port, but we like the pace of it. It feels real and keeps us moving every day.
