Our shop is right near the Sujata Hotel in Vikhroli West. It’s a good spot because everyone knows the hotel, so nobody gets lost trying to find us. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the sound of all the different clocks ticking at the same time. It’s a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it, but for us, it’s just background noise. We have watches all over the place, some in glass cases and others just hanging on hooks behind the counter. I spend most of my day with a magnifying glass stuck in my eye, looking at tiny gears and springs. My hands are usually a bit oily from the lubricants we use for the movements. Vikhroli West is a lively area, and we get people from all walks of life dropping in. Some want a new battery, others have an old grandfather clock that hasn't worked since the eighties. We don't promise miracles, but we try to get things ticking again if the parts are available. The shop is small and the workbench takes up most of the space near the window for the natural light. We’ve been here a long time and the neighborhood has changed around us, but we’re still doing the same thing every day. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from morning until we close up for tea.
