Our shop is at Shop No 3 in Thakur House, which sits right near the Bhavdevi Mandir in Kandar Para. If you’re in Dahisar West, you’ve probably walked past it a few times. Being so close to the temple means we get to hear the bells ringing and the music during the festivals, which really changes the atmosphere around here. The shop is a bit on the smaller side, so things can get quite cramped when we have a shipment arriving or when too many people come in at once. We spend a lot of our time dusting off the items on the shelves and rearranging the front window to show what we have. It’s just a few of us running the place, so we end up doing everything from cleaning the floors to talking to the people who stop by. Kandar Para is a busy little neighborhood, and we’ve gotten to know a lot of the residents over the years. We don't have any big corporate backing or a fancy warehouse. Everything we have is right here in this shop. Sometimes the rain gets a bit heavy and we have to watch the doorstep, but mostly it’s just a regular daily routine of opening up, sorting the stock, and closing late in the evening. It’s a lot of manual work and long hours, but we like being a part of this community near the Mandir.
