We are situated at 45, Mahatma Gandhi Road. It’s a well-known spot in the city. Inside, we have a lot of items made by hand—woodwork, metal pieces, and traditional stuff from across the state. The building is quite old and has that specific smell of carved wood and incense. It’s not like those modern stores with bright neon lights and glass walls. Our shelves are heavy with things that took a long time to make. We spend the day helping people look at the details of the carvings or explaining where a certain piece came from. Sometimes the floorboards creak when you walk over them. It’s a big space but it’s filled up completely with stock. We have a small staff who have been here a long time. We don't do much fancy marketing; the things on the shelves speak for themselves. The traffic on MG Road is always a nightmare, so we mostly see people who are walking by or tourists who wandered in from the street. It’s a bit dusty in the corners because there’s so much to clean and not enough time. We try our best to keep everything in order. It’s a slow-paced kind of place compared to the busy street outside. We just stay here and look after the crafts. It's a job that requires a bit of care for the objects we handle every day. We enjoy the history of the place.
