Jaipur Handicrafts Payal Traders

We run Jaipur Handicrafts and Payal Traders out of a space in Om Viraj on V C Road. It’s flat 302, right across from Fiadi Baug in Andheri West. It’s a bit of a climb if the elevator is acting up, but we’ve gotten used to it. The place is usually filled with boxes and samples from Rajasthan. We don't have a big store window on the street. Instead, we work from this apartment turned office. It’s a bit crowded with all the textiles and small items we keep around, but we know where everything is. Most days we are busy sorting through new arrivals or packing up things to send out. It’s a small operation, just a couple of us handling the orders. We like the location because Andheri West is always moving. You can hear the sounds from Fiadi Baug throughout the day. We’ve been doing this for years, and most of our regular visitors are used to the cozy, slightly cluttered feel of the place. We don’t use any fancy software to track things; we mostly rely on old notebooks and a decent memory. It feels more like a workshop than a business office. Sometimes we sit on the floor to sort through the smaller handicrafts. It’s not polished, and we don’t try to be. We just like the things we sell and enjoy the daily rhythm of the neighborhood.
