Being at G-1220 in Kidwai Nagar means we see a lot of the local folks walking by every day. Jain Art & Crafts isn't really a huge showroom. It’s more like a workshop where things are actually made. We have boxes of materials tucked into every corner. Sometimes it feels a bit cramped, especially when we get a big shipment of supplies in. We work with our hands mostly. There’s always someone painting something or carving a small detail into a piece of wood or metal. It’s quiet work, usually. My cousin and I run the place, and we’ve learned that you can't rush these things if you want them to look okay. We don't do much advertising. People mostly hear about us from their neighbors or just see the sign when they are heading home. The lighting in the shop isn't the best, so we do the fine work near the front window where the sun comes in. Kidwai Nagar is a busy area, but once you step inside here, the smell of glue and paint makes it feel different. We spend a lot of time just organizing the shelves because things get messy fast when you’re busy with three projects at once. It's just what we do. We aren't trying to change the world, just making some nice things for people to put in their homes.
