Down in Sewree West, specifically in the Mandapura area, you can find our workshop, Fine Forge. It’s an industrial part of town, so there is always the sound of machinery and trucks moving around. We have been working here for quite a while, focusing on forge work and metal bits. The shop isn't exactly clean; you get a lot of iron dust and the smell of heat and oil, but that’s just how a forge is. We don't have a front office with a receptionist or anything like that. Usually, you’ll just find us in the back working on the hammers or checking the heat. It’s a tough environment, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the metal roof, but we’ve got our routine down. Most of the people who come to us are from other local businesses or construction sites needing specific parts shaped or fixed. We don't really do fancy marketing or have a website. People just find us by word of mouth or by walking through Mandapura. Sometimes the machines act up and we have to spend half the day fixing them instead of working on orders, which can be frustrating. My father started this kind of work, and I just kept it going here in Sewree. It’s loud, it’s dirty, and it’s a lot of hard physical labor, but it keeps us busy. We just focus on getting the metal right for whoever needs it at the time. It is a simple life in a noisy part of Mumbai.
