We have been sitting here at 85 Kurla East for quite some time now. Dsilva Niketan isn't the fanciest building you will find, but it is where we do all our work. If you walk past, you might hear the sound of us hammering or carving away at something. The shop is usually a bit of a mess because there are always half-finished projects lying around. We make handicrafts by hand, which is getting rarer these days with all the factory stuff people buy. It is dusty in here and the fans don't always keep the heat away, but we like it. Kurla is a noisy place, always crowded with people rushing to the station, but once you step into our little corner, it feels a bit slower. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this since we were younger. Sometimes the materials don't arrive on time because of the traffic on the main road, and that can be a bit frustrating for us and the customers. We don't have a glossy catalogue to show you. You just have to look at what is on the shelves or in the boxes. It is real work. My hands are usually stained with paint or ink. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements. If someone likes what we made, they tell their cousin or friend. That is how we keep going. It is just honest work in a small space.
