Coastal

Coastal is located on Daftary Road, right near Atul Nagar. It’s a busy area and the shop fits right in with the rest of the buildings on the street. We started this place because we wanted to have something steady in the neighborhood. Inside, it’s pretty straightforward. We have the kitchen area and a few tables for people who want to eat in. The tiles on the floor are a bit old and have some chips here and there, but we keep them scrubbed. Most of our day is spent dealing with the fish and the spices. It’s a lot of prep work that people don't really see. We get our supplies delivered early, and sometimes the truck blocks the road for a few minutes, which makes the drivers outside angry. We just try to get the crates moved as fast as we can. It’s not a quiet place to work. There’s always the sound of knives on cutting boards or the hiss of the pans. We don’t have any fancy marketing people writing stuff for us. We just open the doors in the morning and close them when the food runs out. Sometimes we stay late to deep clean the fryers or organize the storage. It’s just the daily routine for us here on Daftary Road. We’re just local people serving the community. We don't try to be something we're not. It's just a place to eat.
