You can find us at 34, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Marg. It is an old building, and it feels like it sometimes with the way the doors creak and the windows rattle when a heavy truck goes by outside. Central Cottage Industries has been a part of this street for as long as most people can remember. We have floors filled with all kinds of stuff brought in from all over the country. It is a bit of a maze, and sometimes even we get a little turned around in the back rooms where we keep the extra stock. There is no big corporate vibe here, even if the name sounds a bit formal on paper. It is really just a bunch of people who have been working here for twenty or thirty years. We spend a lot of time talking to the craftspeople who send us their work from far-off villages. It is a lot of coordination, making sure things arrive on time and are handled correctly. Some mornings we spend just unboxing new arrivals and figuring out where to put them so they don't get damaged. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a relief in this humid heat. We do not go in for fancy marketing tricks or flashy ads. People know we are here, and they know what to expect when they walk through the doors. It is a bit old-fashioned, maybe, but we like the pace.
