Art Cottage

Art Cottage is located on Madh Road in an SRA building, right across from the B B Nair Bunglow in Malad West. It’s a bit of a trek to get here, but it’s a quiet corner for what we do. The space is filled with all sorts of things—cans of paint, old brushes, pieces of wood, and half-finished projects. It’s definitely not a clean office. There’s usually dust on everything and the smell of turpentine hangs in the air. We spend our days making things, sometimes for people and sometimes just because we have an idea. It’s a small team, mostly just me and a couple of others who don't mind getting their hands dirty. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. People usually hear about us from someone else and just show up at the door. The view toward the road is mostly just trucks going by, but it’s home for us. Sometimes we stay late because the light is good or we just want to finish a piece. It’s a bit cramped with all the materials we store, and we’re always tripping over something. We don't try to be something we’re not; we just like working on art and having a place to do it without anyone bothering us too much. Madh can be a bit isolated, but that actually helps when we are trying to focus on a difficult project. It's better than a loud city office.
