Amber Pan Shop

Amber Pan Shop is located over at Dharavi Kale Padal Hadapsar Papde Wasti. It is a long address for a place that is actually quite small and simple. We sit right in the middle of a very busy neighborhood where there is always noise and people moving around. The shop itself is just a basic structure with enough room for the supplies and a little bit of space for us to move. We spend our mornings getting the lime paste and the nuts ready. It is a repetitive job, but there is a rhythm to it that feels okay after all these years. The area of Dharavi and out toward Hadapsar has changed a lot, but our little corner stays pretty much the same. We have people coming in from all over the place, some just passing through and others who have lived here their whole lives. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by candlelight, which makes things a bit tricky but we manage. We don’t have any fancy decorations or marketing. The name is on the front and people know what we do. It gets hot in the summer and the small fan we have doesn't do much, but we stay open regardless. It’s just about being there for the neighborhood and making sure we have enough stock for the day ahead.
