If you have ever spent a morning near the Opera House in Mumbai, you know how the noise from the street never really stops. We are tucked away inside Shreeji Chambers at room 212. It is not one of those fancy modern offices with glass walls and a big reception desk. It is just a regular place where we get our work done. Most days, we are busy with the export paperwork and making sure things are moving where they need to go. The hallways in this building are a bit narrow and you often have to step aside for people carrying parcels. We have been in this spot for a while now. The desk is usually covered in folders and someone probably left a half-empty tea cup near the phone. We don’t really bother with decorating much because we are too focused on the daily tasks. When the monsoon hits, you can hear the rain hitting the old window frames pretty loud. It is just a few of us here handling the business. We don't have any big speeches to give about what we do. It is just about coming in, checking the logs, and making sure the exports are handled right. By the time evening rolls around, the traffic outside gets even worse, so we usually try to finish up before the worst of it. It’s a practical life here in the chambers.
