A One Time

Our shop is located right on Bhandarkar Road, directly opposite the Tarzam Hotel. If you know Mahim East, you have probably walked past our door at least once. We have been at number 1 for a long time now. It is a small space, but it is all we need to do our work. We deal with watches and clocks, which is why we called it A One Time. Most of my day is spent sitting at a small table with a loupe tucked into my eye, looking at tiny gears and springs. It is quiet work, even though the street outside is usually full of traffic and noise from the hotel. We handle everything from simple battery changes to fixing old mechanical watches that haven't ticked in twenty years. People bring us things their grandfathers owned, hoping we can make them move again. The counter is always a bit of a mess with tools, tiny screws, and bits of watch bands. I try to keep it organized, but when people come in all day, it is hard to stay on top of the clutter. We do not do any big advertising or anything like that. Most of our customers are people who live around Mahim or guests from the Tarzam who realized their watch stopped. It is just a regular local business. We keep the shutters up until late evening, then we pack up and head home. It is a steady way to spend the day and we like being part of the neighborhood.
