Sri Sundari Amman Granites

We have been here at Sundari Tower on Main Road in Melur for quite some time now. Dealing with granite is heavy work and there is always some dust around the place, no matter how much we sweep. Most days start early because the sun gets hot pretty fast in this part of town. We handle a lot of slabs and pieces that come in from the quarries nearby. It’s a family-run thing mostly. My brother and I take care of the orders while a few others help with the moving and loading. People stop by because they see the sign from the road. We don't have a fancy showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s just a practical space where we store the stone and talk to customers about what they need for their floors or counters. Sometimes the traffic outside gets loud, especially with the buses passing by on the main road, but we’re used to it. The office is just a simple room where we keep the books and take phone calls. We try to be fair with everyone who walks in. It isn’t always easy work, especially when the weather is rainy and the ground gets muddy, but we keep at it. Most of our neighbors know us by now. We’ve seen the area change a lot since we first set up here and we are just glad to still be a part of the local scene.
