Sabi Granite Traders. We are over on Kumarasamy Street. It’s number 19 in Meenakshi Nagar. Dealing with granite is heavy work. There is always dust on our shoes. We spend a lot of time out in the yard or talking to the drivers. The street gets a bit narrow when the big trucks come in to unload the slabs. You have to be careful where you stand. Our office is just a small room where we keep the records. It’s nothing special to look at. We’ve got some samples sitting around that people can touch. Granite is heavy and cold, but it looks nice when it's cleaned up. Most of the time it’s just us and the stone. We know the neighbors pretty well since we've been here. Meenakshi Nagar is a decent place to be. The sun hits the yard hard in the afternoons. Sometimes we have to wait a while for deliveries. We just drink some water and sit in the shade. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do every day. We handle the slabs carefully because they can crack if you're not paying attention. The guys are used to the lifting. We don’t have any big signs or anything. People usually find us by the address or just by seeing the stone outside. It’s just a regular yard with a lot of heavy work going on. The stones are stacked up high and we have to move them one by one.
