Jain Granites

Jain Granites is situated at 7, Sivaganga Rd in Varichiyur. This part of the road gets a lot of sun, which makes the granite slabs quite hot to the touch during the middle of the day. We have been working out of this yard for a good bit now. Most of our work involves unloading the big trucks that bring in blocks from the quarries. It is dangerous work if you don't pay attention, so we try to keep everyone focused when the crane is moving the heavy loads. We aren't a big company with hundreds of employees. It’s just a handful of us making sure the stone is cut and polished enough for people to use. You can hear the traffic on Sivaganga Rd all day long while we work. We have different types of granite, some dark and some light, spread out so people can walk through and look at the natural patterns. We don't use any fancy sales talk or push people into buying things. If someone likes a piece of stone, they buy it. If not, they move on to the next yard down the road. That’s just how the stone business goes around here. We spend our time maintaining the equipment and trying to keep the dust down with a bit of water now and then. It’s a repetitive job, but there is something nice about seeing a raw block turned into a smooth slab. We finish up around six and lock the gates.
