Shri Rajat Granite

Down here on Shivgangai Main Road, things stay pretty busy with the factory work. We are out at 173/2, near the Orangampatti Sidco area. It is a bit of a drive out from the main city center, but this is where the space is for all the granite. We spend most of our mornings checking the slabs that come in. The location in Varchur works for us because the trucks can get in and out without too much trouble. It gets very dusty around here, that is just part of the granite business. You can hear the machinery going most of the day. We don't have a big fancy showroom. It's mostly just the yard and the office where we keep the papers. Sometimes the rain makes the ground a bit muddy, but we keep moving the stone anyway. We’ve been at this spot for a while now. My cousins help out with the loading when things get backed up. We see a lot of builders and people working on their houses. They come all the way out here to see what we have in stock. It’s not a quiet job. We have different colors and types of granite sitting around. Some days are slower than others. We just make sure the pieces are cut right and ready to go. The sun gets hot on the stone in the afternoon. We just keep working. It takes a lot of effort to move these pieces without any chips and the weight is always a concern.
