Rajesh Beed Stall

If you are walking down West Veli Street in Madurai, you’ll find our stall right in the heart of the Main Market. It’s a small place, nothing too big or impressive, but we’ve been here a long time. Rajesh stays here most of the day, greeting people as they pass. We mostly deal with things like beedis, betel leaves, nuts, and those small bits people look for after they finish a meal. The street is always crowded with folks heading to the temple or the nearby bus stand. It gets quite dusty and noisy with all the horns, but that’s just part of being in this part of town. We don’t have any fancy signs or big glass windows. It is just a simple wooden counter where we keep everything ready for the customers. People stop by for a quick minute, grab what they need, and carry on with their work. Sometimes they stand and talk for a bit about the heat or how the price of everything is going up these days. It’s a simple way to make a living. We see the same faces every single morning and evening. The location is good because almost everyone passes through here eventually. We don’t try to do too much, just keep the stock fresh and be here when the market opens up. It’s just a small spot on a busy street, doing what we do.
