Madura Stones

The yard here at Plot No. 216 in Anna Nagar stays pretty busy most days of the week. We spend a lot of time moving these heavy slabs around and making sure they do not get chipped or broken. It is a lot of physical work, honestly. My hands are usually covered in stone dust by lunchtime. We do not have a big fancy office or anything like that. It is just a practical space where we keep the inventory and talk to people who come by looking for something specific for their house. Sometimes the weather makes things hard, especially when it rains and the ground gets muddy, but we manage to get things loaded onto the trucks anyway. We have been in this part of Anna Nagar for quite some time now, so we know the neighbors and the local tea stall guy pretty well. People stop in and ask questions about different types of stone, and we just tell them what we know from years of handling the material. There is not any secret to it. You just look at the piece, see if it has cracks, and figure out if it is right for what the person needs. It is mostly just us, a few workers, and a lot of heavy lifting. The sun gets hot in the afternoons, so we usually take a break under the small tin roof near the entrance. It is not a glamorous life, but it keeps us busy and the yard stays full.
