Being right by the New Bus Stand in Veerapandiyar Nagar means our days are timed by the sound of horns and engines. Krishna Foods has been at 19/41 for years. It’s a busy spot, and the dust from the road is a constant battle. We mostly deal with basic food supplies and snacks. It’s a small shop, and the shelves are usually packed to the ceiling. We don't have a website or fancy ads. People find us because they are catching a bus or they live nearby. The morning starts early, around five, when the first deliveries arrive. We unload the sacks and get everything organized before the first crowd shows up. It’s hot in the summer, but we have a couple of old fans that keep the air moving. My father started this place, and I just took over when he got too old. We aren't looking to become a giant chain. We just want to make sure the lentils and rice we sell are clean and the price is fair. Sometimes we sit on the wooden bench outside when things are quiet and just watch the people. It’s a lot of work, and our hands are always tired, but it’s a good life. We know our customers by name, and we know whose kids are in school. It feels like a community here, even with all the travelers passing through.
