Haris Restaurant

Haris Restaurant is located on the Madurai Main Road in Tirumangalam. We are very close to the Kappalur Toll Booth, so we get a lot of people who are just passing through on their way to or from Madurai. The 625706 area is always buzzing with the sound of heavy trucks and long-distance buses. Because of the toll booth, traffic often slows down right in front of us. Our place is a bit worn out from all the travelers coming in and out at all hours. We spend our time keeping the tables wiped and the kitchen stocked with the basics. It’s a hot part of the country and the kitchen feels even hotter when we are busy with the lunch rush. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just some wall fans that move the warm air around. People stop here because we are convenient and right on the highway. We serve simple meals that are easy to eat quickly so drivers can get back on the road. The staff is mostly local guys from Tirumangalam who know how to handle the crowd when several buses arrive at once. It’s a plain building with some parked bikes outside and maybe a stray dog sleeping in the shade. We just keep our heads down and keep the food coming for whoever happens to pull over.
