World Peace Restaurant

Vashist is a small place located up above the main town of Manali. It’s much quieter than the market area down below. We are located near the Surabhi Hotel. You have to walk up the narrow stone lanes to find us. The air up here is different, it’s cold and usually smells like wood smoke. We don't have a big glass building. Our place is more like a house. We have some wooden tables and windows that look out towards the mountains. On rainy days, the clouds come right down into the village and you can't see much. We just keep the doors closed and stay warm inside. We don't have a big corporate structure or a boss in an office somewhere far away. It is just us here in the village. Sometimes the water pipes freeze in the winter and we have to carry buckets from the tap. It’s just part of living in the mountains. We get a lot of travelers who are staying in the guest houses nearby. They come in with their big backpacks and sit for a long time. We don't mind that at all. We don't have a lot of rules for people. We just make the food and let everyone relax. It’s not a fancy place with white tablecloths. It’s just a room with some good views and a kitchen in the back. We like the pace of life here.
