Zita Mendus

I work out of D-303 in Sunrise Estate, which is on Radhanath Chowdhury Road in Kolkata, 700015. The estate is quite large, but you can find my block easily if you look for the Federal Bank Tangra Branch nearby. It is a busy part of the city, especially with all the commercial activity in Tangra. My space is inside a residential complex, which makes it feel a lot more personal and less like a cold office. I have a desk, some bookshelves, and a few chairs for visitors. It is not a big operation at all. I handle everything myself, from answering the phone to doing the actual work. The view from the window shows the other blocks of the estate and some of the trees downstairs. Sometimes the elevator in the building takes a long time, so I tell people to give themselves a few extra minutes. It is a comfortable place to spend the day, even if the neighbors’ kids are playing loudly in the corridor sometimes. I have lived in Kolkata my whole life, and being here in Tangra feels right. I do not have a mission statement or any fancy slogans. I just show up every day, do what I am supposed to do, and hope for the best. It is a simple life and a simple way to work. I usually finish up by six in the evening.
