Roop Katha

Down in Behala, specifically at 1168/1 Diamond Harbour Road, things are pretty much always moving. It’s a busy stretch of road, as anyone from this part of Kolkata knows. We’ve been operating Roop Katha from this spot for some time. It is not a very large place, but we make it work with what we have. Most of our day is spent dealing with the humidity and the constant stream of people walking past on their way to the market or the bus stop. We started this because we had the space and it seemed like a good idea at the time. The building is older, so we are always fixing something here or there. You know how it is with these old constructions. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything. Most people find us just by walking past or hearing about us from a neighbor. It’s a very local thing. We open up in the morning, get the floors cleaned, and wait for the first few people to come in. The traffic on Diamond Harbour Road can be a real headache sometimes, especially during office hours, but we’re right there in the mix. It is just a regular day-to-day operation for us. We try to keep things simple and avoid any unnecessary fuss or fancy decorations. It’s just us doing our work in Behala every single day.
